I recently saw American History X for the first time and was greatly impressed. I thought that Edward Norton did a great job and thought that he had the look of someone that would be part of the Nazi party. I just wanna know if any of you have seen it and what your thoughts were. Dont bother to post on this movie if you have never seen it. That would destroy the purpose of this topic.
This is a movie about a reformed skinhead, Derek, who is trying to prevent his younger brother, Danny, from following in his footsteps. The movie goes back and forth between present day and the past. It shows Derek change through his time as part of the Neo Nazis through his life changing experiences through prison after murdering two black men. Derek forms a friendship with a black inmate, Lamont, who was sent to prison for racial prejudice by the courts. Lamont saves Dereks life in prison from the black gangs and his outlook on minorities changes forever. Danny looks up to his brother and tries to impress him by taking part in his old gang of skinheads and writing a school report glorifying Hitler. It wasnt long before Danny realizes that everything his brother has been telling him is true and he writes a new report, but is murdered by a young black gang member before he could turn it in.
